How I Work



1. You Contact Me (estimated time = 2-3 min)
Either via phone (0412 155 181) or email. During that (short) conversation/correspondence I’ll ask you about the advertising/marketing problem you’re trying to solve; and arrange a time to call you – AFTER HOURS! If you have any previous and/or related marketing materials, I’ll ask you to send those to me in advance.

2. Preliminary Research (estimated time 30 – 60 min for me)
Before I talk with you in depth, I like to understand your business and your market. I do this by conducting research over the internet, and by reviewing any materials you have sent me. The aim of this exercise is to get an “informed” feel for your business from an outsider’s perspective. I’ll then collate the information into a marketing audit which I’ll email to you prior to our Preliminary Consultation.

3. Preliminary Consultation (estimated time 30 – 60 min)
I’ll call you at the mutually agreed time (arranged in the initial contact – see 1) and collate more of the details about your project including background, aim, ideas, target market and budget. I’ll also cross-reference your aims with my own findings about your business and your market. At the end of that conversation I’ll let you know whether I think I’m the right person to do the job and I will give you a definite price.

The ball will then be in your court.

If you decide to proceed, simply call or text me. If not, no problem.

4. 50% Deposit Required Up-Front

In order to proceed further, I require a deposit of 50% of the agreed fee, payable into my bank account.

5. Possible Second Interview * (estimated time 30-60 minutes)
* For bigger projects such as web copy I almost certainly will need a second interview. For smaller projects (such as letters, brochures and print ads) I am unlikely to need one.

6. Writing of Copy (estimated time 7 -10 business days)
Drawing on my research and notes from the preliminary consultation (and second interview for web copy) I will begin writing your copy. In order to confirm that we are on the same page in terms of message and tone, early in the writing process, I will send you two excerpts of the copy, written in different tones. Once we’re agreed on the preferred tone, I’ll write the rest of the copy, and send it to you.

7. Feedback from You/ Refund if Not Happy
If you’re in anyway unhappy with the copy, say so. I’ll then endeavor to make the necessary changes until you are satisfied. If I am not able to do this, I’ll refund your 50% deposit. However, such a scenario is unlikely given the prior checks and balances that I’ve incorporated into the process.
